The title of this series draws on Ettore Sottsass’ (founder of 80’s Memphis Group) observation of outsider house design in India. His travels in the subcontinent are perhaps more influential on the history of post-modern design than currently acknowledged. My trompe l’oeil facades in orthogonal and perspectival views are removed from their architectural contexts. In doing so, I create doppelgängers disguised as hard-edge abstract paintings.
